SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT

I wrote this poem/lyrics to be made into a song, and George Robertson who is a member of the group Healing Through Creativity which is a group for victims and survivors of abuse, was honoured to sing and do the instrumentals for me. The group also has a website by the same name and have a festival every Sept. in W. Virginia, where they show their creativity by showing their artwork on abuse, poetry, stories, songs etc. This will be played at the festival, and my friendDebbie Naylor Cox offered to make it into a video for me and I would like to thank both George and Debbie for doing this, I am honoured that they took the time for this, and now we can get more exposure about abuse.

Also my very good friend Dawna Larson also put the song onto our group Abuse Survivors and Victims United, and spent many many hours putting it into a format so we could all see it on our group page, and has shared it in other groups also. Dawna thank you also from the bottom of my heart for doing this for me I know how much time you put into it. love you all for this...I am honoured that you all took the time to do

THE FORGOTTEN CHILDREN

THE FORGOTTEN CHILDREN

We need to be the voices
Of children everywhere,
Alone, abandoned, with bruises
It seems like no-one cares.

Their abusers keep them silent
With threats, their bodies shake,
Feelings kept inside themselves
Their smiles, they always fake.

Words that hurt so deeply
Destroys their self-esteem,
Shame they feel inside themselves
In their minds is where they scream.

Secrets so deep and never to be told
They lived it every day,
These are the forgotten children
Let's scream out and shout and pray.

Pray that we can save them
From a life of horrendous abuse,
To set them free and guide them
It's up to us, there's no excuse.

Each day one child will die alone
From their wounds inside and out,
Scars so deep, with bodies broke
From this abuse, there is no doubt.

Remember all children everywhere
Protection is what they need,
Broken, alone and frightened
From the abusers dirty deeds.

I write these words, for all children small
And that little girl in me,
Silenced then, but not any more
I will shout out to help set them free.

MY INNER CHILD IS FREE

Can I come and
Sit down with you
With big
Brown eyes she cried,
I slowly sat down
And hugged her
And hoped she
Would confide.

I won't let
Anyone hurt you
You are safe now,
I will hold you tight,
Her sobs were
Oh so heavy
Jerking with
So much fright.

God loves you
And will keep you safe
He has you
In his hands,
She looked at me with
A tear stained face
And nodded
She understand.

She spoke with
Only a whisper
I strained my
Ear to hear,
I'm afraid of
All the demons
They're close,
They're very near.

She drew her knees
Up to her chest
And followed
With her eyes,
Peering in
The distance
She shuttered
And started to cry.

Hush little one,
Why do you cry
She pointed
In the distance,
Look, he's there,
He wants me
I looked up
To take a glance.

Please don't let
Him touch me
It hurts
So much inside,
I rocked her
And said I love you
You're safe, you
Don't need to hide.

She looked at me
So tenderly
As the tears
Rolled down my face,
She took her hands
And wiped my tears
With so much
Dignity and grace.

Come walk with me,
Let's leave this place,
But she wouldn't
Move an inch,
I held her close
And stroked her hair
But all she did
Was flinch.

Why does he do
Those awful things
Did I do
Something bad,
There's nothing that
You did sweet child
She looked
So very sad.

I won't let the
Demons hurt you
I will be your
Guiding light,
To protect you
And always love you
In the darkness
Of the night.

She looked at me
With a sparkle
That I saw
Within her eyes
She squeezed my hand
So gently
And gave a
Little sigh.

I stood up slowly
And helped her up
She still was
A bit afraid,
But I held her
Tight and told her
Of the progress
she now has made.

Finally, a smile
Was on her face
As we walked
Slowly out the door,
She was free to leave
This place in peace
For the demons are gone,
Forever more.

SHADOWS OF NIGHT

Alone in the night they cry out in fear
Ashamed and abused they hide to disappear,
A living hell that binds them and squeezes them tight
These are the children of the shadows of night.

Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
That's why we must fight
And stand up for their rights,
Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
We must release them and save them
From the shadows of night.

Bruised and alone to face so much abuse
Their throats are squeezed tight, as if in a noose,
Silenced from fear, the scars tell it all
No-where to run, no-one to call.

Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
That's why we must fight
And stand up for their rights,
Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
We must release them and save them
From the shadows of night.

Monsters who savagely rape for their pleasure
Taking the innocence away from our treasures,
Our children can't fight, so many do die
So many tears in our eyes, oh how we do cry.

Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
That's why we must fight
And stand up for their rights,
Feel, do you feel pain for all children
We must release them and save them
From the shadows of night.

Shackled and bound their minds block it away
To try and escape the torturous days,
Their bodies are his, to do as he pleases
Spreads open their legs, as he soon releases.

Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
That's why we must fight
And stand up for their rights,
Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
We must release them and save them
From the shadows of night.

We can't sweep it away or pretend it's not there
Must open our eyes, and show them we care,
Children need to be loved, safe and protected
With God's help we have all been selected.

Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
That's why we must fight
And stand up for their rights,
Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
We must release them and save them
From the shadows of night.

Alone in the night they cry out in fear
Ashamed and abused, they hide to disappear,
A living hell that binds them and squeezes them tight
These are the children of the shadows of night.

Feel, do you feel pain for all children
That's why we must fight
And stand up for their rights
Feel, do you feel pain for all children,
We must release them and save them
From the shadows of night.

MY SHAME MY BLAME

Cramped inside myself, I hide
Like a cocoon that's wrapped up tight,
Filthy words that speak to me
My mind, it just can't fight.

Hideous creatures grab hold, abuse
Eyes peering back at me,
I hear my little self scream out
Please help, please set me free.

Over-powered, I'm trapped, I can't escape
Can't reach out to set her free,
They make me watch, I cry in shame
Of these images I don't want to see.

Scoffing, they laugh at my defeat
As the memories of my little self unwind
Too young to face the wrong they did
Can't cope, she floats from my mind.

To escape her cocoon, as a butterfly
To flee the wrath at hand,
Fly high above the clouds so white
Viewing mountains that are so grand.

But her glimpse of happiness erodes away
As reality strikes back and wins,
It takes her back to the abusers at hand
As they take her, her mind does spin.

I need to reach my little self
To free her from this hell
But all I see is their dirty deeds
She's rigid, caught under their spell.

I bare the scars that I carry still
So much shame is what I see,
I feel I'm to blame for my little self
Because I just can't set her free.

So she crawls back into that cocoon so tight
Wondering when that day will be,
I just don't have an answer for her
There is no guarantee.

I wrote this poem because I have so many feelings of blame still for myself that I must heal from. The shame I felt and still feel to this day still haunt me. I blame myself for not being able to free my little self from all the hurt and abuse she suffered when she was suppose to have been loved and protected.
